Abstract

Cardiac arrest is the biggest dead cause in Europe. In Indonesia, it is estimated there are 10.000 cases of people who has cardiac arrest every year. However cardiac arrest can be handled with cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In Darul Hijrah Putera Islamic Bording School, CPR has not been ever conducted. The method of this research used pre experimental with pre-post test design approach. The technique of collecting the data was by using probability sampling with simple random sampling approach. The samples were 40 respondents. The instrument used knowledge and motivation questioner to obtain respondents’ data on 21st December 2017 in Darul Hijrah Putera Islamic Boarding School. The Result in this research was obtained (p-value 0,000<α=0,05) on CPR action knowledge of the student and it was obtained (p-value= 0,000<α=0,05) on the students’ motivation result. It explains that giving training about RJP to the students affect the knowledge and help the victim of cardiac arrest in student high school in Darul Hijrah Putera Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

NEWS (National Early Warning Score) is a new developmental instrument for early detection of declining patient conditions. Head injury is still a problem in Indonesia and so far its assessment is still based on GCS to know the category of head injury. Therefore, an appropriate early assessment instrument is needed to detect outcomes thus a management plan can be done quickly and accurately. This study aims to know the effectiveness of NEWS use against the outcome of head injury patients. The design of this study is a prospective cohort. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling in 48 head injured patients in three hospitals. The study was conducted from 27 November 2017 to 08 January 2018 with observation and documentation study. The result of analysis shows that p-value is 0,013 <0,05 (H0 is rejected), meaning that there is difference of outcome according to NEWS category. Significant differences were seen in mild and severe category of NEWS (0.013 <0.05). The percentage of NEWS influence on outcome is 78.34%. This suggests that NEWS is effectively used for initial assessment of outcomes of partients with head injury.

Abstract

The head injury is one of the accidents causing death and disability. Head injuries include in the top 10 most surgical diseases in the Emergency Department of Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin. From January to September 2017, head injured patients amounted to 974 cases. Patients dominated by mild head injury with GCS were 13-15. Patients with head injuries come with severe GCS and some die on the same day of head injury occurrence, but others get intensive care. This research to find out the relationship between GCS on admission and outcome of head injury patient in Emergency Department (ED) of Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin, ED of Idaman Hospital Banjarbaru and ED of Ratu Zalecha Martapura. This research used non-experiment method in cohort way with consecutive sampling for its sample collecting technique from 56 respondents who are the head injury patients in 3 hospital emergency departments. The analysis of relationship between GCS score on admission and outcome of head injury patient using fisher exact test obtained the significance value (2-tailed) of 0.006 < 0.5 which means that H0 is rejected, so there is relationship between GCS score on admission and outcome. The higher the score of GCS on admission, the better outcome received.

Abstract

Chemotherapy is one of the therapies for cancer patients that cause some side effects, one of them is nausea and vomiting. Nausea and vomiting are still felt by patients even though they take antiemetics. Nausea dan vomiting can cause fluid and electrolyte imbalance. The aim of this study was to analysis the effect of combination acupressure wristband and antiemetic among chemotherapy induced nausea vomiting (CINV) on breast cancer patients. This research used quasi experimental research method, with a pre-post test with the control group. The sampling techniques was consecutive sampling with 25 respondents both in intervention group and control group. In the intervention group had received an acupressure wristband. CINV measured on the second day until fourth day after chemotherapy. Nausea and vomiting score were measured twice a day by a telemonitoring methode by Rhodes Index Nausea, Vomiting and Retching (INVR) questionaire. Data were analyzed by paired t-test, independent t-test, Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney. The result of this study showed that acupressure wristband significantly reduce the chemotherapy induced nausea and vomit (p value = 0.000). The use of acupressure wristband combined with antiemetic therapy can significantly decrease  chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting in breast cancer patients. Acupressure wristband recommended for consideration nursing intervention in treating breast cancer patients who experience nausea and vomiting.

Abstract

Vertigo is one of common complaints in the primary health care in the world. The common modern therapy for vertigo is using chemical pharmacological therapy yet having unwanted side effect. One of the wellknown complementary medicine that has been proven for relieving and curing many diseases is cupping therapy, especially wet cupping therapy. However, wet cupping therapy is not commonly applied in Indonesia healthcare. The causes may be due to the scarcity of the high quality scientific sources of the cupping therapy use for vertigo as well as the boundary between complementary and modern medicine in Indonesia. This review aimed to find out the use of wet cupping therapy against vertigo. A systematic review was obtained from NCBI and Google Scholar database (1999-2017) according to topic of interest. Yet Yunani, Persia, and China medicines recommend this therapy for treating vertigo as it had high level safety and effectivity. Wet cupping therapy has a potential effect in treating vertigo which the mechanism using negative pressure from vacuum cupping thus opening the skin barrier and removing causative pathology substances (CPS). Researchers and health practitioners essentially need to improve research in large scale towards the use of wet cupping against vertigo so the effectivity will be more optimal.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the deadliest diseases in the world and is currently listed as the third killer disease after heart disease and cancer. Treatment of hypertension requires a long time and requires a lot of money. Therefore, it is necessary to consider using a non-pharmacological approach that is natural to control high blood pressure and improve sleep quality. Hypertension can be controlled with non-pharmacological therapy using slow deep breathing relaxation techniques combined with zikir. Objective of this study is to determine the effectiveness of slow deep breathing with zikir of decreasing blood pressure and improving sleep quality. This study uses Quasi experimental with Comparison Group. Sampling using purposive sampling. The sample size in this study were 30 respondents with a sample of 15 respondents in the intervention group and control group. The intervention group will get a slow deep breathing treatment with remembrance while the control group will only get slow deep breathing treatment. Intervention for 14 days Measurements taken were measuring blood pressure using a sphygmomanometer and a stethoscope, while for sleep quality using the Pittburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. Analysis used by Mann Whitney for blood pressure and Independent sample t test for sleep quality. After the intervention is given there is a decrease in blood pressure and an improving in sleep quality. Non-pharmacological intervention of slow deep breathing with zikir is more effective for decreasing blood pressure and improving sleep quality in patients with hypertension.
